The Pultec MEQ-500 500 Series Equalizer - Jack Douglas Edition is a 3-band midrange equalizer. Before bringing their MEQ-5 EQ into the 500 series, Pulse Techniques consulted with famed produced Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick...), as he had cited the MEQ-5 as an essential component to his sound for many years. Per his suggestions, Pultec added frequency centers to overlap with the low-mid section as well as the high-mid. This allows you to fine-tune the mids in your mix resulting in thick, life-like guitar and stunning vocals.
In addition to these enhancements, the MEQ-500 Jack Douglas omits the tube topography for its makeup gain stage, instead employing the legendary API 2520 op-amp. The resulting sound is less colored than the vacuum tube version allowing for a clear and vibrant mix.
